Our Story
In 2006, Brian Collentine started Yolo Farmstand, selecting, trucking, and stocking fresh produce from Yolo County in corner stores throughout San Francisco. He thought that, “organic produce should be as accessible as chips and beer.” Along the way he noticed a real need in the market for healthful snacks that had absolutely nothing added, no salt, no oil, no sugar. As a purveyor of organic nuts and fruits, Brian has a simple formula:  Buy the best organic nuts and dried fruits from growers you know and trust; handle and store them carefully; and package them for optimal flavor and food value.
Brian’s background is tailor-made for his business and includes working the prune harvests in the hot California summers of his college years. In San Francisco, he headed a graphic design studio, became an ardent cyclist, a fanatic recycler, and eventually, chief of arduous and repetitive tasks at our place in Capay Valley in Yolo County.
Currently Brian serves on the board of directors for the Capay Valley Farm Shop, a food hub supplying locally grown food from over 40 growers to Northern California connecting rural and urban communities. Additionally, he was a member of Capay Valley Vision, dedicated to finding common ground for  Capay Valley’s future.

Sue Collentine joined Yolo Farmstand in 2019. She brings bottomless energy and insight  from a career as a teacher in elementary education. Sue’s entrepreneurial spirit comes to her naturally. Prior to teaching, she and her sister started Hatchums, an educational plush toy for kids aged 4 - 7. As a mother of two and grandmother of three, Sue takes a special interest in the nutritional and economic value of all Yolo Farmstand foods.
